Peter Christian Hertel, born in 1968, and Sebastian Klarhoefer, born in 1966, have known each other since their school days. They studied architecture in Berlin and Venice and completed their degrees in Berlin in 1996 and 1994. Their first joint furniture designs were created during their studies at the Instituto Universitario di Architettura in Venice with Aldo Rossi.

In 1999, they founded a joint agency for design: hertel & klarhoefer. Since 2001, they have worked as designers and architects in their own studio in Berlin. Their team comprises designers, interior designers, modellers and carpenters.

In recent years, they have designed furniture and accessories for renowned brands such as Authentics, ClassiCon, elmarflötotto, Ligne Roset, Nils Holger Moormann, Fischer Möbel, Garpa, Kenneth Conbonpue, Zeitraum and Flötotto.

They define themselves as a full service agency whose spectrum ranges from the concept phase and design to technical product development. With its pulsating rhythm and creative potential, Berlin fascinated them right from the start and still influences their work today.

"Berlin is our inspiration: urban, creative and fast."
